Press Releases

Québec City, May 8, 2017 – The Québec Mining Association (QMA) has proudly launched the 26th edition of Québec Mining Week. From now until May 14, people of all ages will be able to take part in a wide range of activities to discover or find out more about Québec's mining sector.

The mining sector will be showcased throughout the week at conferences, family days, information booths and mine visits. All the activities are designed to emphasize the importance and value of Québec's mining sector, and also its assets and diversity.

"Without mines, Québec would not be the place we know today. All the objects we use in our everyday lives depend, to some degree, on mining. The goal of Québec Mining Week is to demystify the industry and its activities, explain how it works and remind people of its importance in our day-to-day lives. It is also important to remember that by creating and maintaining 45,550 jobs and spending $5.8 billion in all regions, the mining industry is a source of pride and socio-economic prosperity for Québec," says Josée Méthot, the QMA's president and CEO.

The Québec Mining Association thanks all its partners in Québec Mining Week, along with all the volunteers who work on its regional committees and who make the activities possible. The full program is available on-line at www.amq-inc.com/evenements.
