Web platform launched by the Plan Nord marketing office : A TOOL THAT WILL CREATE MORE EFFECTIVE LINKS BETWEEN PROPONENTS AND SUPPLIERS, ACCORDING TO THE QUÉBEC MINING ASSOCIATION

Québec City, November 18, 2016 – The Québec Mining Association (QMA) welcomes the initiative taken by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister responsible for the Plan Nord, Pierre Arcand, who has launched a Web platform to create an effective interface between project proponents and suppliers in the area covered by the Plan Nord.
"For the Plan Nord to be implemented successfully, it is essential for development projects to be conducted in a coherent and coordinated manner. One way to achieve this is to create connections between players to facilitate discussions. This is exactly what this interactive platform aims to do," says Josée Méthot, the QMA's president and CEO.
In the view of the QMA, it is clear that the success of the Plan Nord also depends on a sustained level of mineral development. Mining companies will have a crucial role to play and will rely on many different suppliers for their projects. With this new access to a bank of suppliers interested in working in the area, the selection process will be made easier.
"Any government support aimed at increasing the pace of mining project development is welcome, and we are therefore enthusiastic about the new Web platform. This new, low-cost tool is a modern example of things that can be put in place to make the mine development process more fluid," concludes Josée Méthot.
